Over the years, the Fire District has developed a program to place public access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at key locations throughout the community. Funding for these life-saving devices has been made possible through a combination of Fire District resources, along with generous donations and grants from the Water Wheel Fire & Medical District Auxiliary, the Beaver Valley Estates Auxiliary, and the Mogollon Health Alliance.
Each AED is installed in a weatherproof yellow cabinet located outside buildings, ensuring they are easily accessible to the public at all times. To support community preparedness, the Fire District offers free CPR and AED training to residents—just call to schedule a session. In addition, the Fire District performs regular maintenance on all AEDs to ensure they remain in proper working order and are ready to use in an emergency.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a life-saving device used in emergencies when someone is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It checks the person’s heart rhythm and, if needed, delivers a controlled electric shock to help restart the heart.
AEDs are designed to be simple and safe to use, even for people with no medical background. With clear voice instructions and visual prompts, an AED will guide you step-by-step through the process.
These devices are often found in public places like schools, gyms, airports, and offices—because in a cardiac emergency, every second counts. Using an AED quickly can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.
